Yesterday when I made a quick trip to the store, I witnessed the unthinkable. Yep that's right I witnessed what I like to call the shopping cart lazies. Much to my dismay, I watched a lady push her shopping cart between two other cars. She looks to see if anyone is looking, and then makes a mad dash back to her car. Of course, only a few feet from where she abandoned her cart in the middle of the parking lot is the actual place where the shopping carts go. I mean literally it would have taken her a few extra steps. I almost got out and put it up for her, but I had Nolan in the car with another car waiting behind me. Really how much energy does it take to walk those extra steps? These days most people work behind a desk ALL DAY with little exercise, so it would probably be good for a person to take a few extra steps to return the shopping cart. Then because of her inconsideration someone else's car will probably get dented from a runaway shopping cart, or better yet that shopping cart will just sit there and take up valuable parking spaces. You know like when you are about to pull in a space and realize a cart is in your way, so you have the find another place to park. So next time you are in a parking lot watch out for those stray carts or your car might end up like this!
Ah yes Love when people do this. However I'm guilty if the cart barn is too far away (as in one or 2 lanes over).
ReplyDeleteI hate this. I also hate when people leave their trash in the carts. Or you find the empty bag of cheetos that they probably stole. People are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteUgh.This drive me CRAZY. I don't park anywhere near the cart area, becuase it always seems to be the ones who are closest to it that don't bother putting them there. But I ALWAYS put mine away!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pet peeve of mine. I usually give people the "are you serious" stare when I catch them in the act!! Apparently they missed that whole "put your toys back in your toybox" day of kindergarten;)
ReplyDeleteUgh. How annoying! I will always walk my cart back to the cart corral thing. Yes, sometimes it's a bit of a pain, but I would be PISSED if my car got hit, and even though I'd never know, I'd feel bad if my cart hit someone else's car.
ReplyDeleteI think there should be an dye pack that explodes on people that do that.
ReplyDeleteI hate when people do that! My hubs is tired of hearing me complain about it!
ReplyDeleteDrives me nuts when people don't put their carts back! Had a cart crash into my new car and do $500 worth of damage. So frustrating!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS! Cute blog. :)
Super rude! I find it so interesting that at Aldi, everyone will return their carts in order to get their quarters back, but at other stores, people won't walk two feet to put it away.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your blog today!
Visiting from SITS :)
ReplyDeleteThis is my pet peeve. Put 'em away, people!
I feel guilty if I don't put the shopping cart back!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the time I was 7 months pregnant and I had some serious back issues. I had just survived a trip through the store and had strapped my 2 kids in their car seats while they screamed at me. I was on my way to the place for the carts when this little old lady pulled into a spot and blocked me and my cart in! I could barely get my belly back so I left the cart there. Then the same little old lady started chewing me out for not returning the cart!!! I'm all about returning the cart but that was nuts... Anyway...sorry :).... happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteYes that is a pet peeve ... The one store that drives me crazy is Hobby Lobby! They don't have cart stalls and so you have to take it back into the store ... or park it with the other 5 or 6 abandoned by the trashcans!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your SITS day!
Stopping by from SITS today. That is one of the things that drives me crazy. How about when you go to pull into a parking space only to find that half is taken up by a stray cart! It only takes a moment. Come on people!
ReplyDeleteI try to remember the guy or girl who's responsible for cleaning up my mess. But...then...you never know what emergency phone call that person might have just received.
ReplyDeleteVisiting you from the SITS girls, and I hope you have a GREAT SITS Day!
I'm pretty mercenary about the whole shopping cart thing. If I can conveniently get to a holster, I do it. If it's miles away and I've got both kids buckled in, I just make sure the thing is safe and unlikely to roll (typically this means I ramp it up on a middle thingie) and leave it. I DO hate it when somebody could get the cart where it belongs in a few steps, though! Happy SITS day!!
ReplyDeleteThis annoys me too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I also get annoyed at people who don't say thank you as you hold open the door for them to walk through. Esp. if they dart in front of my girls .... Oy.
Maybe this is a California thing, but I go to some stores that have no cart returns anywhere in the parking lot! What's up with that? I can't carry my two children and groceries to the car, so I must take the cart. But I also can't leave them in the car while I walk back to the store! These stores cause me to have a great moral dilemma every time. I hate leaving the cart, but I have no real choice.
ReplyDeleteIt really peeves me.
Stopping by from SITS.
I am right there with you on this one! Really people? Come on!
ReplyDeleteI will say... if I have FireGirl with me and the cart corral is too far away, I don't put the cart away. Flame if you must, but leaving my kid in the car while I walk that far away, or dragging my kid all the way across the parking lot both seem too dangerous to me. Maybe I'm paranoid, but... I'm not risking it.
ReplyDeleteNow... if it's close by, it absolutely goes back in the corral.

Oh my, don't get me started! I will let them see me watching them....sure do. Visiting from SITS!
ReplyDeleteI try to park close to the coral so it is easy to put up.
ReplyDeleteSeriously - I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this is rude!! How easy is it to just put the cart back? Love the look of your blog - it's really clean! :)
ReplyDeleteI found you on SITS! I am somethings guilty! Bt you made a bunch of good points I will try to be better!
ReplyDeleteI always park right next to the cart return so that I can get the kids loaded up in the car and then just take a few steps to put my cart back without "abandoning" my kids. Fortunately our stores are pretty good about keeping the parking lots clear of runaway carts! Visiting from SITS and just followed your blog... congrats on being featured!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS! I totally do this, but because I'm handicapable, I don't feel bad about it. Although I do try to keep them as far away from a car as possible!
ReplyDeleteLazy, Bratty Lady! Grrrr....
ReplyDeleteDropping by from SITS :)
That drives me nuts! I always return carts to the corral, even when I've got the munchkins with me. But I am still confused as to what to do when there isn't a place to put your carts, at stores where attendants walk around putting them away for you. I have been known to go all the way back to the store with the cart...
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that's such a fauxpas! I live in NYC and never use a shopping cart and even I know how socially unacceptable that is! No wonder there's an obesity epidemic.
