The Differences in the Baby Bumps

Now that I am nearing the end of this pregnancy, I thought it would be neat to compare the differences between the two.  So here's a list I've compiled to compare:

***1st pregnancy-I couldn't wear my wedding ring for almost the last 3 months.
***This pregnancy-I can still wear them!

***1st pregnancy-I had the belly line (linea nigra) that is caused by pregnancy hormones.
***This pregnancy-No line at all!

***1st pregnancy-I had gestational diabetes (even though my readings were way low EVERY TIME!)
***This pregnancy-Passed the 1 hour glucose test with flying colors :)

***1st pregnancy-I was pretty swollen, especially in my feet and legs the last few months.
***This pregnancy-Doing good so far with little swelling.

***1st pregnancy-I felt the baby move right after 18 weeks.
***This pregnancy-I felt the baby move around the same time, but I think this boy is more active even though Nolan was pretty active.  This must be Nolan 4.0.

***1st pregnancy-I had very bad hip/lower back pain.
***This pregnancy-Avoided it for now, hoping to keep this part at bay!

***1st pregnancy-I didn't feel any contractions until many hours after my water broke.
***This pregnancy-I think I have been feeling them for the last week.  Maybe because I know what they feel like it makes me more aware of them.

***1st pregnancy-I didn't sleep very well the whole time.
***This pregnancy-I have had good periods of time where I slept pretty well.  But it changes by the week!

***1st pregnancy-I gained around 30-33 lbs.
***This pregnancy-I think I will gain 25-30 lbs.  Time will tell!

***1st pregnancy-I had a lot of energy after the 1st trimester and besides the last few weeks.
***This pregnancy-I feel like I am running on empty most days.  I feel like most of my muscles are totally relaxed meaning my legs feel like a million pounds  Not fun!

***1st pregnancy-I gave birth to Nolan a day before his due date.
***This pregnancy-I think with the current activity I have been feeling that this boy will be a few weeks early.

Did you have a lot of differences in your pregnancies?

It's HOT, HOT, HOT!

I had a great weekend with the girls and meeting baby Sally.  We hung out at the pool and went out to eat and had some good food.  It was good to catch up before I have this little boy in a few weeks.  We did have a crazy waiter that was all over the place.  When I asked for another drink, he was like what's wrong with yours?  Um it's called a refill my friend.  He was just an odd ball who tried to push his ideas on food and drinks on his customers...then he messed up my friend's bill.  The food was good---but this guy was all over the place!

Now onto the real meaning of this post---the blazing heat!  When I looked up the weather forecast I saw that it was going to be 101 degrees.  SAY what?  That's just plain ridiculous...and it's basically going to be like this for over a whole week without any rain.  We seriously need the rain or should I say my garden and new landscaping need the rain.  So because we have no rain, I am trying to water all our new plants/flowers/bushes/trees everyday which is a lot since we just got new landscaping this spring.  Even though I water them, they seem to grow and do so much better when it rains.  After a good rain, my garden always looks like it has grown to twice the side.

Today is the one day that it is a little compared to the high 90's and the 100's we are going to see.  So I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

Sidenote:  I forgot to mention the strange waiter decided to touch my belly as he was getting our drink order....not cool my friends, not cool!

Let's Hear It for the Girls!

Even though I am 34 weeks pregnant, I am super excited about seeing these lovely ladies this weekend:
Here we are at Sarah's shower back in January a month before little Sally was born.  I haven't gotten to meet Sally yet since Sarah and I live on opposite sides of the state, so I am super excited!  I might be waddling around looking a little ridiculous in this 90 degree heat but at least I will be in good company :)

Have a great weekend friends!

Search Overload

Have you seen those commercials with the people who everytime you say a word they go into a definition or something they found on the internet?  I sometimes feel like that when I am searching for items or answers on the internet.  I'm a decent searcher, but boy do I get frustrated that after about 3 pages within my search I still can't find the answer even if I put quotations around the important words.  It really drives me bonkers when I am just looking for one answer, and I feel like I have to search within a search for hours.  It just makes my head hurt!

For example, my friend has a Baby Trend double jogging stroller that she is letting me borrow since her kids are now older.  I was trying to see if her model had an infant carrier adapter like my single BOB stroller sells.  It talks about how the tray (probably like my non-jogging Graco stroller does) can act like an adapter and hold an infant carrier.  However hers doesn't have a tray and for the life of me I can't find where you can order the tray separately or if they even do that.  I hate it when I search for a long time with no answer in sight!  I think she has the Baby Trend Expedition edition.  Do you know if they sell the trays separately?  Please let me know if they do...I figure I will have to call their customer service to get my answer.

On another note, I bought some Krylon spray paint from Hobby Lobby yesterday.  One was for the frames for baby #2's room and one is for his name over his crib.  I am spray painting the gold frames I found on the cheap with white.  Except this spray can LEAKED ALL OVER my frames and my cardboard and newspaper I used to protect the garage floor.  I mean seriously every time I would spray a big drop would plop out.  It was so annoying!  I am definitely taking the navy back and not using it on the letters.  I am guessing it has something to do with the 360* sprayer it supposedly has---which probably just means "hey it leaks everywhere."  I will not be buying anymore Krylon spray paint that is for sure.

Ugh so as you can see Wednesday brings my "rants" of the week!

How Was Your Weekend?

Wow it's already Monday?  My weekend FLEW by, how about yours?  On Saturday, my husband and I went to a wedding while my mother-in-law watched Nolan.  It was a beautiful wedding!  My friend Mary Catherine is one of my sorority sisters from college that now lives in the same city with me.  Actually she's from here originally, so I guess I moved in to her turf.  She had a lovely dress, and I just loved how she did her hair.  The reception was at a garden that I had never been to before.  It was an old house with some acreage that a catering company bought many years ago.  I was very impressed with the whole place, and the weather was not too hot since the wedding was at 6:30.  Here are the only photos I have from the night!

We had a lot of fun at the wedding, even if I did feel a little ridiculous doing the Cha-Cha slide and the Cupid Shuffle at 8 months pregnant.  It's my last wedding to attend for the year, so we gave it our best shot!

Sunday was also very busy even though I was all by myself.  My husband went with his dad to an early golf tee time, and since I was childless I did sleep in a bit.  However, once I was up I cleaned the whole house and all the wood and tile floors since I didn't have a little boy there to get in the way.  I also successfully sold my first item on Craigslist!  It was kind of exciting I must say...and I'm already to list some more items.  We had just listed in on Friday evening, and it was sold and picked up by Sunday afternoon. I think this might be a little addicting---I really do like getting rid of stuff.

After my cleaning, I headed over to my in-laws house while Nolan was napping so I could do some sewing with my MIL.  I finished the window valance!  We also started on the bumper, but I had to order some material online since the store didn't have enough...and we weren't sure how much we would need in the beginning.  Now we know we need more, so hopefully that ships quick!

Hope you guys had a good weekend!

Sometimes...

Sometimes it's hard to choose just one toy to play with, so why not play with them all?
Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

What Mid-June Already?

I seriously can't believe it's already mid-June.  Where has the time gone?  I am 33 weeks today which means baby boy #2 will be here in 7 weeks.  7 WEEKS people!  I don't think I can even wrap my mind around this.  The nursery is coming along--we have all the pieces just have to put everything up and together, but we are waiting for our new carpet to be installed first.

I recently visited my friend that has a 4-week old little boy.  I can't even remember Nolan that small...even though I know he was.  Pretty soon I will have one that little again!

Nolan has been expanding his vocabulary lately and really trying to mimic us.  It is the cutest thing!  He's also started to become more adventurous which is not his usual style.  Suddenly, he feels the need to climb huge hills or stand on random objects that are probably not made to be stood on.  It's funny how in just a few days they really can grow and change in many ways.

Thanks to everyone for their concern about my eye.  I went to the eye doctor (with all the millions of older people today--seriously I had no idea how much old people go to the eye doctor!) this morning to have my contact bandage taken out.  My eye has done really well today.  I'm hoping that it will continue to heal quickly...it's still a little swollen from the contact, the scratch, and all the crazy drops I have had to put in it.

Hope you guys are having a great week!

"You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!"

Ok so my eye did not get shot out, but Nolan did his best of poking it out.  This past weekend we traveled to visit my parents who live about 3 1/2 hours away.  Usually Nolan is a good sport in the car, but for some reason he required a little more entertainment this go around.  So on the last leg of our trip--probably about an hour and a half to go I sat back there with him.  Well we were playing, and the next thing I know is he flares that little left hand of his and pokes my eye.  I thought at first he just poked it because you know how that can hurt.  I quickly realized that he hadn't just poked me...he had also scratched my eye.  So with about 30 minutes to get home I sat there with my hand over my eye trying to recover.  We had to get home and immediately turn around to do a hospital tour of where I am going to deliver.  My MIL was meeting us at our house so she could watch Nolan.  So instead of tending my eye, I grabbed a little ice pack and wash cloth and heading back out with my husband.  We couldn't reschedule the visit because it only happens once a month and with a due date of August 3rd...we don't have much time left.

Now I know you are thinking well you are going to a hospital so you can have your eye looked at.  We were not going to the ER and paying those costs.  So after the 40 minute tour, we headed to a Walgreens to go to their walk-in clinic.  Yep I left a hospital to go to a Walgreens.  The lady there was super nice and used the dye in my eye to check for a scratch.  The dye confirmed that I had a pretty big scratch that went over the center of my eye from about 2 o'clock to where 7 o'clock would be on a clock.

She sent me home with a patch and referred me to a specialist.  I had no idea how getting your eye scratched takes you out of the game.  I literally couldn't keep my other eye open, and I kept thinking how am I going to watch Nolan tomorrow?  The next morning my husband stayed home from work and took me to the appointment.  The eye doctor saw my scratch and gave me a contact bandage that keeps my eyelids from blinking over the scratch.  He also gave me some eye drops.  Once I got home I was able to see better and open both eyes which was a huge improvement.  My husband went back to work, and I made it through the rest of the day.  All I can say is I almost had wanted something else on my body to be hurt because when I couldn't open my eye I felt like I couldn't do anything and my nose would not stop running.  I felt ridiculous!  Luckily the eye is one of the fastest healing body parts, so I go back tomorrow to get the contact taken out.  Pray that my eye is onto a speedy recovery!  Until then, you might not see my commenting as much since the brightness of the computer hurts my eye.

Hope your week is starting off better my friends :)

Happy SITS Day!

I'm super excited to announce that today is my SITS day!  I recently became a forum lead where I help with the discussions and topics.  It is amazing how many people are out there to give advice whether it is about html code, social media, or just blogging in general.  The SITS Girls are awesome so please check out the site and join the community. Don't forget to check out my blog feature and show me some love! :)

If you are visiting from SITS, welcome!  I blog about my life as a SAHM and my son (soon-to-be 2 sons!) and my attempts of trying to be Suzy Homemaker.  You will find posts about my everyday life, cloth diapers, rants on grocery stores or bad drivers, and my take on motherhood in general.

Hope to see you around!

Random Thoughts Wednesday

I've got a lot going through this pregnancy brain so I thought I would share some of the randomness.

  • I really dislike garden hose sprayers.  Seriously no matter how much I pay for one, it always leaks.  Nothing like trying to spray some flowers/garden and having water just trickle down you arm.  ANNOYING!

  • Why do so many people drive without a purpose?  Nothing worse than getting behind someone who is off in "la-la land."  When we are out of town for the wedding, I could not for the life of me get somewhere without getting behind one of those people---especially when I was on my candle run.

  • Flies!  Ugh for some reason we have gotten a few in our house, and they drive me bonkers.  We did kill all the ones in the garage who for some reason were attracted to the ceiling.  I blame the mild winter for not killing anything.

  • I cannot believe in about 8 weeks or so I will be the mother of two, not just one.  Every time we saw people at the wedding they kept thinking it was my first---I'm like nope got a little boy home.

  • Why do people that work at the grocery store feel the need to push my cart with my son in it?  Nothing like a weird old man to freak you out.

  • I have joined the SITS Girls as a forum lead!  You can find my first discussion thread here.

  • I am loving this cooler weather we had yesterday and this past weekend.  It made for the perfect wedding weather.

  • My due date of August 3rd seems far away when I say it until I actually count the weeks.

  • I believe I have began the nesting phase---I have been making tons of list.  Crazy pregnancy brain!

  • I bought clothes for baby boy #2 for the first time this past weekend.  I forget how little they are as newborns!  I needed some more light gowns and a few rompers since Nolan was born in October I didn't have these items.

  • I also scored Nolan some awesome jeans for the fall.  They are too cute!  I also found him a nice light jacket for him to take with him when he goes to Mother's Day Out this fall.

  • Yep that's right---Nolan is starting a MDO program.  I'm nervous, but I know he'll have a blast.

Happy Wednesday! :)

A Wedding Weekend!

What beautiful weather we had this weekend!  My husband was in a wedding for his fraternity brother from college, so we traveled a few hours to attend the rehearsal and the wedding.  This was the first time that the both of us had left Nolan for 2 nights.  So I guess that means it is the longest we have been alone since Nolan has been born!  He was in good hands with my mother-in-law so we weren't worried.  I of course checked on him several times, and was either playing or taking super long naps.  Where are those naps when he is at home?  I guess Grandma wears him out!  The reception was at a beautiful mansion with gorgeous gardens and landscaping.  Sorry I don't have more photos to share!
I also had to make an emergency candle run for the lovely couple.  The unity candle was set up with the larger round one and then two short round ones.  There was no way they could lean the short ones in to light the bigger one, so my husband and the wedding coordinator called me to ask if I would go get long thin tapered candles.  I had just arrived at the church, so I had to turn around in the car in a place I wasn't from and go on the candle hunt.  Luckily, Walgreens to the rescue.  I made it back just before the wedding started (music was already playing!)  Anyhow it all worked out, and they were able to light the unity candle.  I was a pregnant woman on a mission!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!
