Oh Monday...

Oh Monday...yesterday you proved your reputation right by being a long and tiring day.

We started out with Conley teething and crying in the morning---which continued ALL.DAY.LONG.  Of course that also meant short naps, which also leads to an even crankier baby.  I had forgotten how much I dislike teething...and how it can change a total happy baby into a cranky monster. UGH!

After dinner while Daddy took Nolan to Little Gym, I knew I had to get out of the house since it was the witching hour.

When I came home with Conley, I noticed the dining room table place mats were all moved over.  I thought...hmm that is weird I know I didn't do that before I left.

Then I knew.  My Jack Russell Terrier, Molly had jumped on the table and eaten the small leftovers I had left in Nolan's plate.  Since I was in a hurry, I hadn't moved it.

Much to my dismay, there are now dog claw marks on my relatively new dining room table.  Seriously??? I mean if I don't have to worry about enough with getting the kids out the door now I have to make sure my table is spotless so my dog doesn't jump up on the table?

I already have to make sure Teddy, our other dog is either outside or in his crate because he's been known to pee on a table leg.  And of course this started happening right after I had Nolan, and we had just had the floors refinished.

Molly's crate doesn't zip up, and so we leave her in the living room...because if we leave her in our room she gets on our bed, under the covers, and on our pillows and leaves her white hair everywhere!  So needless to say, we are now getting a new crate because I can't deal with one more detail before I get out the door with both boys.  My mom brain just can't handle it.

And now to better news...I had a great Mother's Day with my boys.  They were so thoughtful and got me flowers and a spa day.  Can't wait for a day of relaxation!  Here's a few photos:

Hope your Monday went better than mine :)

2 Dogs & 2 Kids Don't Mix

As many of you know, we have two dogs.  Molly, a Jack Russell Terrier who will be 10 in February, and a Cairn Terrier, Teddy who will be 6 this December.

So before you have kids, you love your dogs--but they still can annoy you.

After kids?  Well you pretty much have no patience left for them.

I know, I know they are part of the family.  But seriously, they must have the worst timing on the planet.

Let's take Molly for instance.  She has really gotten whiny and super annoying in her old age.  I swear every time I sit down on the couch, after both boys are down, the kitchen is clean----and all I want to do is sit on my comfy couch and watch my DVR....there is a constant whining at the door. Yep Molly needs to go out.  Big surprise!  She really does have impeccable timing.

So she'll go out to potty.  Then you let her back in in like 5 seconds because this dog can't stand to be outside.  Well the water dish is outside (oh you know after the 5th time your kid dumps it out, so that's where it stays to avoid water messes), so Molly can't kill two birds with one stone...she's got to make a SEPARATE trip for that.

And about 30 minutes later, she'll want to go out ONE MORE TIME.

On top of that, the other morning she woke me up at 2:30 AM to go out...and of course she woke the baby up.

Then at 5 AM she wanted to go out AGAIN...I'm like seriously dog I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!  So I tell her to go back to bed just in time to here her throwing up.  Fantastic.

And Teddy?  Well he's pretty low maintenance.  He's not a vocal dog like Molly, and he loves to play outside in our yard and protect his turf.  About a month ago, we had a little visitor...a stinky one at that.

So I knew when he was rolling around on the ground like a crazy dog that it wasn't good.  He now strongly smelled of skunk--I don't think he was sprayed but got close enough.  The next day I did the DIY skunk smell remedy--peroxide, baking soda (what can baking soda not do???), and dish washing liquid.  It did take some of it away, but it was mostly on his snout so I have to be very careful not to get it in his eyes.

Now every time he gets wet or damp from being outside...he smells like a skunk.  So his bed has been moved to the kitchen for like the last month.

Do your dogs drive you crazy or is it just me?

Throw a Dog a Bone

Meet my dog Teddy:

He will be six years old this December.  I am usually not one to give my dogs food scraps, they usually ONLY have their all natural dry dog food by Innova.  But yesterday I made a pork loin roast which had the bone in it.  My husband said we should give the bone to Teddy---saying it was safe to give him this one because the bones don't break like chicken bones.

Anyhow, fast forward to midnight last night (or early this morning whichever you prefer) and I hear Teddy making that disgusting throw up sound...you know that gag sound dogs make that sound like they are going to have no stomach left.  Then after about 3 more times of this, I let him outside.  Have you ever wondered what your dinner would smell like after your dog has eaten it?  Ok I didn't think so...so I'll leave out those details.  His dog bed will be going through some major cleaning today.

Needless to say we won't be be "throwing the dog a bone" anymore.

Hope your Monday started off on a better foot than mine!

A Doggy Birthday!

Today our Jack Russell Terrier turns 9 years old.  It's hard to remember what life was like without her...since we've had her since college.  She is still pretty springy for 63 in doggy years.  We have had to slow down with her playing just a little bit since she just goes all out.  Nolan is quickly learning to play fetch with her, and I see them becoming great friends as he gets older.

So Happy Birthday Molly and to many more years! :)

Another One Bites The Dust

Here is my dog Molly. She's an 8-year old Jack Russell Terrier that just loves some soft squishy toys, until she decides she must DESTROY them. She starts by just suckling on it, almost like she is remembering back to her pup days and being with her mom. Then something happens and she decides this toy MUST DIE and she pulls out all the stuffing and makes a huge mess. Not a big deal since I stopped buying those types of toys for her. However, little boy does have some of these toys. I remember being worried about the dogs getting his toys in the beginning but they never did. Until Molly saw a soft squishy toy that she couldn't resist. First it was the soft monkey who was the first casualty. He survived but does have an ear missing. Then it was the cute little frog that has teething hands and feet that she kept eyeballing. I had caught her smelling it, and promptly told her "No this isn't your toy." She knows it isn't her toy, but she just can't help herself. She has taken off with the irresistible little frog toy twice but no damage had been done. Last night I found stuffing under the bed, and I knew that Mr. Froggy had lost the battle with Molly. I found the rest of his remains in another room that she never goes into so she knew she was doing something bad and that she had to hide with it. Poor Mr. Froggy has bit the dust...we loved you and hope you are enjoying stuffed animal heaven.

The Escape Artist

The Escape Artist...AKA Teddy Ruxpin:

Today I decided that Nolan and I were going to run to pick up some lunch since I had home cooked meals for like the past week. When that happens, I crave fast food (GASP!) Is that terrible? I know it is, but I can't help myself. After having so much good-for-you food I need some good junk food! Anyhow, as I was pulling out of my driveway low and behold Teddy is running in the neighbor's yard. Now here I already have Nolan in the car, and I am going down the road...so I know I can't just leave my car there to get Teddy back inside. I decide I will just pick up Teddy and take him along for a road trip even though he just had a jail break out. As we are about to make a left into the restaurant, I witness a wreck! A car was running a red light and hit a van that was making a right turn onto the road I was on. It's so crazy to watch one in real life...it's kind of scary! It looked like everyone was ok, and the ambulance and fire truck were all there in a matter of minutes. Needless to say it has been a pretty interesting day over in these neck of the woods.

Here are some pics of Nolan and Teddy enjoying the sunshine!
