My Wish for My 4 1/2 Year Old

As the year progresses, I can't believe by the end I'll be a mother to a 5 year old. The one that made me a momma, the one who steals my heart everyday.

As I watch him grow, I find myself having wishes for him and his future.

I hope you hold onto your innocence and wonder of the world as long as possible. The world can you make you jaded, and I happen to like viewing it through your rose-colored glasses. You always try to play with the older children and even when they are trying to push you away you don't take it personally or realize that they don't want to play with you. You see no race, color, gender, or class. You just see the joy and fun.

I hope you always make friends so easily. You seem to have a gift of making friends--and being the tallest and biggest child you seem to befriend the smallest ones. However you love keeping up with the big kids too, and they seem to embrace you. The world is a happier place when you have friends surrounding you.

I hope you always enjoy reading and books. I loved books as a child and would get lost in one. I'd love to share this love with you. I really believe reading can help you excel in school so not a bad hobby to pick up.

I hope you continue to have empathy for others. You truly feel emotions for those in need or pain. You are my sensitive guy and while at times this can cause you to be upset over small things, it also causes you to have a big heart for others.

I hope you always have your creative imagination and your quest for knowledge. You seem to love to learn about new things and how they work.

Above all, I hope you have find true happiness and joy in life. Don't ever lose that smile or twinkle my boy.

Old School Blogging-March Edition!

Wow the end of March already? Well I'm not too late for Old School Blogging with my friend Elaine this month!

If you could be on a reality tv show which would you choose?

Hmm this is hard as I used to be a hardcore Survivor fan, but I totally wouldn't last at all. I used to really love The Amazing Race...but my husband and I would kill each other. I have no sense of direction and consider myself geographically challenged. So maybe not?

Name one thing you have saved from your childhood.

I really have no cuddly stuffed animals or a blanket to admit to. I guess the closest thing would be lots of photo albums from the past.

If your life had a song what would it be?

I am a lover of all kinds of music. Not sure my life has a theme...but I do love some old school Dave Matthews Band when it's sunny out with the windows down. Takes me back to carefree days.

(Particular favorites are #41 and Two Step-"but life is short but sweet for certain")

What is your happy place?

The beach! I love hearing the waves, and anytime it starts warming up I feel the ache to be at the beach catching some rays and my toes in the sand.

What is the one thing about your home that you and your spouse disagree on?

We both agree it's too small for these growing boys. I would say I don't mind the yard but my husband would like it to be a perfectly manicured lawn. I'm just happy as long as it is mowed. He wants to redo our master bathroom, but I think if we're to sale this year that it's not going to gain us much more than we've already invested in the house.

What is your favorite fruit?

I would like to say I like cantaloupe the most but I don't usually have it in the house because it either goes bad or not ripe enough. I do eat a banana a day, and I do like a good strawberry. I just don't like fruits that are too sweet!

Bowtie or regular tie?

Regular tie I guess...but my boys do look cute in a bowtie but that's a rare occasion!

Mexican or Italian food?

I LOVE Mexican food! I could probably eat it almost everyday. A quesadilla and a margarita for the win!

Where do you want to go on summer vacation?

Well if I could choose anywhere with no budget restraints I would choose Hawaii, and the big island this time. With budget restraints, heading to the beaches of SC again...or a fall trip to Colorado!

What are your go-to shoes in your closet?

(My foot is the silver one on the right, and I have a black one very similar to pair)

Since it is warming up, I'll have to go with some of Kenneth Cole dressed up flip flops. They have some sparkle but are super comfortable!

How about you? Want to play a long with us and Elaine? C'mon down!

Spring Weather Fun!

Last week was rain but now we are feeling some sunshine and 70 degree weather! I seriously could live all year long with the weather just like this.

We had some yogurt fun at a KMB playgroup where both boys enjoyed seeing their frog, "Cookie."

On Sunday, we took Nolan to a birthday party at our local science museum, and he had fun dressing up like an astronaut!

I also had a Mom's Night Out with KMB...it was a reschedule from a snow day but at least the weather was perfect!

I recently finished reading The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty, and now I'm moving on to book #7 in the Outlander Series. I have to really gear myself up for these as they are super long. I'm almost done with the series though.

What are you reading and are you getting some of this spring weather?

Ready for March and Four Years!

With all the snow and crazy weather in February, I've never looked so forward to the month of March!

This past weekend we spent in a cabin with our in-laws and my brother and sister-in-law. The boys had a blast, and we (my boys and I) had our first Dixie Stampede experience. Wow...that was interesting! (I believe the rest of the family had been to a show before).

The boys did really well, but Conley was getting a little antsy towards the end which is to be expected.

Before we left for the weekend the boys enjoyed a birthday party at Krispy Kreme where they decorated donuts. It was funny to see how the girls' tables were very neat and such a mess on the boys' table!

Oh and don't forget school was out (our Mother's Day Out program) due to snow AGAIN.

Oh and the four years subject line? Yeah it's been four years this March since I started this blog---when Nolan was only 5 months old. Now this year he'll be five in the fall!!! Where does the time go?
