Old School Blogging-March Edition!

Wow the end of March already? Well I'm not too late for Old School Blogging with my friend Elaine this month!

If you could be on a reality tv show which would you choose?

Hmm this is hard as I used to be a hardcore Survivor fan, but I totally wouldn't last at all. I used to really love The Amazing Race...but my husband and I would kill each other. I have no sense of direction and consider myself geographically challenged. So maybe not?

Name one thing you have saved from your childhood.

I really have no cuddly stuffed animals or a blanket to admit to. I guess the closest thing would be lots of photo albums from the past.

If your life had a song what would it be?

I am a lover of all kinds of music. Not sure my life has a theme...but I do love some old school Dave Matthews Band when it's sunny out with the windows down. Takes me back to carefree days.

(Particular favorites are #41 and Two Step-"but life is short but sweet for certain")

What is your happy place?

The beach! I love hearing the waves, and anytime it starts warming up I feel the ache to be at the beach catching some rays and my toes in the sand.

What is the one thing about your home that you and your spouse disagree on?

We both agree it's too small for these growing boys. I would say I don't mind the yard but my husband would like it to be a perfectly manicured lawn. I'm just happy as long as it is mowed. He wants to redo our master bathroom, but I think if we're to sale this year that it's not going to gain us much more than we've already invested in the house.

What is your favorite fruit?

I would like to say I like cantaloupe the most but I don't usually have it in the house because it either goes bad or not ripe enough. I do eat a banana a day, and I do like a good strawberry. I just don't like fruits that are too sweet!

Bowtie or regular tie?

Regular tie I guess...but my boys do look cute in a bowtie but that's a rare occasion!

Mexican or Italian food?

I LOVE Mexican food! I could probably eat it almost everyday. A quesadilla and a margarita for the win!

Where do you want to go on summer vacation?

Well if I could choose anywhere with no budget restraints I would choose Hawaii, and the big island this time. With budget restraints, heading to the beaches of SC again...or a fall trip to Colorado!

What are your go-to shoes in your closet?

(My foot is the silver one on the right, and I have a black one very similar to pair)

Since it is warming up, I'll have to go with some of Kenneth Cole dressed up flip flops. They have some sparkle but are super comfortable!

How about you? Want to play a long with us and Elaine? C'mon down!

Getting to Know You

I've seen many bloggers doing this, so I thought I would jump on the boat.  Lately, I've seen some new faces around here and would love for your to introduce yourself.  What's your name...and why did you start blogging...or what is your favorite thing about blogging?

I started blogging right before Nolan turned 5 months...that seems like a lifetime ago!  Never would I thought two years later I would have two boys or have such a great blogging community.

Here's a few fun facts you might not know about me:

1)  I want three kids.  When I was growing up, I always thought just two.  But as I got older I liked the concept of having a big family.  Would we want a girl?  I would happy with either...and honestly I love being a boy mom and that's what I know.  So three boys would be great, or I could learn new ropes with 2 boys and a little girl.

2)  I was class president of my senior class from high school.  I had to plan our senior trip, and we went to New Orleans!  We were the first class to actually fly somewhere.  Crazy I know...but the administration fought me tooth and nail about that.  Looking back it's crazy to think I just looked online and dealt with a travel agency.  I am also responsible for planning our class reunions, and we had our 10 year a few years ago.

3)  I was very involved in my sorority at college, and I participated in our Greek Step Show all four years. We were horrible my first year, but I had no idea because I was a freshman.  We won 2nd and Best of Show when I was a junior, and first place when I was a senior.

4)  I ran track in high school and jumped hurdles.  I did both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, but the 300 meter was my favorite.  I ran all four years.  I also played volleyball and basketball---but volleyball was my favorite sport.

5)  When I was a working professional in the good ole corporate finance world, I earned my way to our big "Fast Start" which was basically a work conference and fun in a different city.  I was able to go to Boston for the first time and attend a Red Sox game, go to Seattle and experience Pike Place Market, and to Orlando where we rented out a part of Universal Studios one night and stayed at Disney.  Man those were the days...all expenses paid!

6)  My husband and I used to stay up late in a computer lab in college and play a game called "Text Twist."  You've probably seen games like this where you have letters and have to come up with as many words as possible.  We loved that game...and confession I have an app on my phone that we sometimes play now.

7)  I used to play the piano and took lessons for 7 years and participated in many recitals.  I played "Canon in D" in one of my last ones, and one of my favorites is "Moonlight Sonata."  I haven't played in awhile, and I hope to one day have my own piano and be able to teach the boys.

8)  I really, REALLY want to go to Bora Bora one day and stay on one of those huts on the water.

9)  If I order a dessert, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be something chocolate.

10)  I have been on two cruises and really want to go on one of the Eastern Caribbean.

Now it's your turn!  Please introduce yourself even if you haven't been a commenter. I would love to meet you :)

Don't forget to join us over on Bloglovin since Google Reader will be going away in July.

Check Yes or No...

Do you remember in high school when the biggest event of the year was Prom? I keep seeing the previews for Disney's new movie Prom, and I can't help but think about my proms. Let's just say they are nothing like the movies portray. When I was in high school, my favorite movie was "She's All That" with Freddie Prinze Jr. C'mon you know you watched it too! But seriously, why does Hollywood make proms look like the most spectacular night of your high school career? I am embarrassed to say I attended 4 proms...yes 4. One happened to be after I graduated and was a freshman in college. How lame is that? I went to 3 out of the 4 with boyfriends...and boyfriends I didn't really like all that much. I always wished I just would have gone with someone that was just a friend. I really think I would have had more fun, but instead I was worried that I was making my boyfriend mad because I was hanging out with my friends instead of him. Both of these boyfriends (one I went to two proms with) were older so they didn't know any of my friends. Anyhow, long story short...I sure do wish my prom was like the ones in the movies. No one really danced at our proms, and the most fun part was just being dressed up and getting your hair done. A girl can only dream...it reminds of that movie, "Not Another Teen Movie" (which makes fun of all the teen movies including "She's All That") in the prom scene where they say, "Didn't you know they were all professional dancers?" "It can happen, it can happen AT THE PROM tonight!"
