A nice little break from the brutal heat and humidity.
On days like these...I think it's ok to push bedtimes later.
To sit back and watch your son run around the playground with no actual purpose but to have fun.
Let them be young and innocent.
Don't push them to grow up too fast.
Let them get dirty from playing in the dirt or sticky from eating a lollipop.
Those moments are fleeting, so soak them up until the sun goes down.

Amen sister amen!! Keep them young!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Such a great reminder to just let them be kids.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Love that you created the happy smiles and memories for him!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful reminder :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Keep them young as long as you can. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this. Thanks for the great reminder :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Sometimes you just have to have fun and not be strict about bedtimes & routines. We do the same from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI agree! We've been having cool nights and warm/hot days with cool breezes. I love it. Today my mother-in-law had my older one so I took the baby out to an outdoor restaurant out in the country and we just ate junky food and stayed up late and had a blast.
ReplyDeleteI love summer since it's that time of year to leave routine, get dirty, eat candy and stay up too late. And I let the kids do the same :)
ReplyDeleteCute pictures!
ReplyDeleteAnd a much needed reminder! Thanks! :)
Now I've got that Kenny Chesney "When the sun goes down" song in my head! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. That's what summer nights are for! Around here it's the coolest part of the day so we have to push bedtimes to enjoy some outdoors! Throws me off routine a bit but that's ok. They are only so young so long!
Oh my Gosh, that last picture...heart melting! So sweet! :) We have been pushing bedtime back around here, too.-Ashley
ReplyDeleteTotally this! The weather has cooled and we've been able to stay outside longer (and later). I love your photos!
ReplyDeleteso SO true! breaking the rules with bedtime every once in awhile is good for the soul! i love how excited my boys get when they have free reign over the playground as the sun is setting!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleterules schmules in summertime!
especially when the sun is practically begging you to stay out and play.
My kids have been known to crawl into their sleeping bags at 11 pm when we are camping.
unfortunately they are not great at sleeping in though. gotta work on that one.
They grow up way too fast! You are so right to enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteSo true! Let them grow and have fun naturally. The outdoors is great for that.
ReplyDeleteGood good for you and yes enjoy it! Thankfully it hasn't ever gotten super hot yet this summer-holding my breath that it won't
