Away from kids who are constantly grabbing, climbing, kicking, and you name it.
I just want to be able to complete a task without a little kid attached to my leg.
Have you felt this way? That you just wanted a personal bubble and for no one to touch you for like a good solid hour?
Now that Conley is standing while holding onto any object, he is constantly underfoot or climbing me.
I can't take Nolan to the potty without him trying to climb the toilet and grabbing his brother.
I can't unload/load the dishwasher without him getting involved.
And of course when I go to the bathroom, I apparently need two small supervisors.
I can't hide ANYWHERE in my house. They always find me.
Do you sometimes feel that your own children are suffocating you?
Yes! I've contemplated putting a small desk in our bedroom just so I can have "a place" that is mine alone in this house.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, mama...it will pass. Pretty soon, they'll all be gone at school all day, and then come home and want to immediately go and hang out with their friends...
ReplyDeleteI know those days are really hard though...especially not being able to go to the bathroom alone. Actually, i'm not sure when those days will pass, as it seems someone is always barging in the bathroom here ;)
hugs, mama xoxo
That's been a long time for me but when the grandkids are over I can't even go potty without someone with me. When I come home from work I have always had to have time to decompress. I can't get my head around home until I have that half hour.
ReplyDeleteYes! And Des totally climbs my legs. They both climb me. I want to scream, "no touching!" but I never do. I think next week I'm going to go to the movies alone on a weeknight. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYES!! I so remember just wanting to go to the bathroom by myself. Totally okay to want to have your own space. Already with my kids ages though it is quite different and sometimes I go looking for them :)
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. More so when I was SAHM. Now I find myself missing my little mini-me during the weekdays. But then he'll be attached to me at night and on the weekends. We all need a little space and it's ok to want it & take time for it. :)
ReplyDeleteum....you've read my blog title, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI used to be such a hugger -- now, I'm all like: Nope. Nope. Nope. been touched and mauled enough today. hug amongst yourselves. I'll be over here pretending to be invisible. and not sticky. LOL
I shut the bathroom door, and lock it (since the older one can open doors).
ReplyDeleteWhen the older one needs to potty, I have to shut the door on the little one, who stands outside crying until we're done.
That's the way it is. Sigh. So I get it.
I most certainly used to! Thankfully when school begins you do catch a little break! In the meantime, maybe ask for a little help? Someone to watch the kids for an hour so you can take a bath ALONE? :O)
ReplyDeleteSometimes? YES...more like ALL THE TIME, especially when they were little. It does get better as they get older (I have to hunt Bobby down to be in his presence at 13), but let's face it. It takes YEARS to get to that point. (and to this day, Lucy still just walks in the bathroom if I'm in there without even bothering to knock or pause and is all up in my grill whenever the mood strikes her)
ReplyDeleteI feel you!! You are not alone!! --Lisa
Now that I'm at home I'm getting used to more of this. They both are up under me all the time anyway. Even more so now that I'm at home more.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah... I feel that way a lot. Right now, in fact, as Kendra is pulling my hair and pretending to be a lion who is attempting to lick my face. It is amazing how much you can accomplish and how refreshed you can feel when you get a few kid free hours!
ReplyDeleteI feel you for sure! Lately, I've had a little velcro accessory on my leg at all times...or a koala bear clinging on for dear life. Sometimes we just need a minute!
ReplyDeleteI get this. It used to be worse when they were younger. Now, it's not so bad, they can entertain themselves and leave me alone, but then it really only lasts for a half hour, sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I feel the same way sometimes, especially when I crash into bed the night before without getting my dose of uninterrupted, adult-alone time. Once I had diarrhea in a public toilet and all my littles had to be crammed in there with me. And they simply had to give a loud commentary regarding the sounds produced. Sheesh!!
ReplyDeleteI have certainly felt this way. I think it is only human nature for us to want some space and time with no one "on" us. I am getting out of this phase with my kids as they get older but yes, I have definitely been there! HUGS!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I have gone through long periods of time when it felt like I had a child tugging at my skirt 24/7. And then it flip flops and now I worry about my oldest who never wants to come home. But yes, in that moment, all I want is my own space. I SO get this! xo
ReplyDeleteI remember days like that. They are coming to an end for me, I can tell. My guys are getting more and more independent and like their space more, too. Hang in there, these days do pass.
ReplyDeleteI so remember those days. This will pass, I promise. Then you will be aching for them to tug at you. Hang in there!
